RTMA v2.10.10 minor upgrade adds FAA station KJKA
NWS updated RTMA to v2.10.10 on Aug 26, 2025 (18Z) to add FAA station KJKA to the station list.
On August 18, 2025, NOAA/NWS issued an updated notice for a minor RTMA upgrade to version 2.10.10, implemented on August 26, 2025 at 18Z.
About RTMA
The Real-Time Mesoscale Analysis (RTMA) is NOAA's near-real-time surface analysis, updated hourly to provide the best estimate of current conditions. It powers operational monitoring, rapid verification, and bias correction workflows.
What changed
The update adds FAA station KJKA to the RTMA weather status station list. The notice was updated to reflect a revised effective date.
Why it matters
Small station-list changes can affect local analyses, visibility/ceiling coverage, and downstream verification. If you ingest station-indexed RTMA data, keep an eye on the updated list when mapping stations to locations.
What this means for GribStream users
GribStream already supports RTMA. We will keep RTMA station metadata aligned with NOAA's published station list and incorporate any future RTMA changes as soon as updated feeds are available through the AWS Open Data program.
