GribStream

NAM CONUS Upper Air

GribStream Code: namawphys

Description

NAM CONUS Upper Air is the North American Mesoscale (NAM) upper-air-oriented configuration for the contiguous United States. In GribStream, the namawphys dataset maps to the public awphys product on the 12 km Lambert CONUS grid, which is useful when you need more regional structure than a global model but do not need the storm-scale volatility of HRRR.

The feed carries pressure-level, surface, boundary-layer, soil, and radar-style diagnostic fields across four model cycles per day. It works well for regional wind and temperature structure, moisture transport, precipitation setup, and broader short-range planning where an 84-hour horizon matters more than 3 km convection-resolving detail. For the surface-heavy companion feed, see NAM CONUS Surface Diagnostics; for the storm-scale 3 km product, see NAM CONUS Nest.

WEASD –Water Equivalent of Accumulated Snow Depth (kg/m^2)
1 variant

Snow water equivalent (SWE) is the total liquid water stored in the snowpack. It integrates depth and density of existing snow.

  • Units: kg/m^2.
  • Accumulations represent water-equivalent depth over the output interval; rates describe intensity.
