GribStream

NAM CONUS Nest

GribStream Code: namconusnest

Description

NAM CONUS Nest is the highest-resolution fixed-domain North American Mesoscale (NAM) stream available for the contiguous United States. It runs on a 3 km Lambert grid and resolves organized convection, terrain-driven wind structure, and sharper mesoscale gradients than the 12 km NAM slices.

This is the NAM product to use when you want storm-scale structure but still prefer the NAM family and its 60-hour reach over the even shorter high-frequency refresh models. If you want NOAA's intended successor path, compare it with RRFS; if you need the coarser but longer-range NAM companions, see NAM CONUS Upper Air and NAM CONUS Surface Diagnostics.

WEASD โ€“Water Equivalent of Accumulated Snow Depth (kg/m^2)
1 variant

Snow water equivalent (SWE) is the total liquid water stored in the snowpack. It integrates depth and density of existing snow.

  • Units: kg/m^2.
  • Accumulations represent water-equivalent depth over the output interval; rates describe intensity.
