Description
CWA WRF 15 km is a regional numerical forecast from Taiwan's Central Weather Administration. The model covers a broad East Asia and western Pacific domain, extending from the tropics northward across Taiwan, the South China Sea, the Philippine Sea, Japan-adjacent waters, and surrounding regional weather corridors. That domain makes it a useful complement to global models when an application needs regional guidance for the western Pacific rather than another worldwide forecast.
The forecast uses the Weather Research and Forecasting model, a mesoscale numerical weather prediction system used for operational forecasting and atmospheric research. CWA publishes this 15 km regional configuration alongside a higher-resolution Taiwan-focused WRF product; the 15 km domain is the broader option, with a 661 by 385 Lambert conformal grid and forecasts from analysis time through 84 hours.
The dataset includes pressure-level and near-surface atmospheric fields such as wind, temperature, humidity, height, pressure, precipitation, and surface diagnostics. That mix is useful for regional weather apps, maritime routing, aviation planning, energy forecasting, logistics, and typhoon-region monitoring where pressure gradients, steering flow, moisture structure, and precipitation evolution all matter.
