Descrizione

IFS Wave è il modello globale delle onde di ECMWF. Usa ecWAM accoppiato con l'IFS atmosferico per simulare generazione, propagazione e dissipazione delle onde guidate dal vento.

Il modello rappresenta processi fisici come forzante del vento, whitecapping (frangimento schiumoso), interazioni non lineari onda-onda ed effetti del fondale. L'accoppiamento aiuta a catturare le retroazioni tra vento e mare, importanti per flussi aria-mare e stati di mare estremi.

IFS Wave è forzato soprattutto da venti IFS a 10 m e campi di ghiaccio marino. Le condizioni iniziali sono migliorate con assimilazione dati delle onde, inclusa altezza significativa da altimetri satellitari e osservazioni da altre piattaforme oceaniche.

I campi tipici includono altezza significativa delle onde, periodo medio, periodo di picco, direzione media, partizioni wind sea e swell, e variabili superficiali per operazioni marittime, rischio onde e ricerca.

In GribStream ifswave è l'opzione deterministica ECMWF per prodotti marini globali. Se il tuo prodotto richiede incertezza sul mare invece di un singolo scenario, IFS Wave Ensemble è il complemento diretto.
