Beschreibung

IFS Wave ist das globale Wellenmodell von ECMWF. Es nutzt ecWAM gekoppelt mit dem atmosphärischen IFS, um Entstehung, Ausbreitung und Dissipation windgetriebener Wellen zu simulieren.

Das Modell verwendet physikalische Terme für Windinput, Whitecapping (Schaumbrechung), nichtlineare Wellen-Wellen-Interaktionen und Bodeneffekte. Die Kopplung hilft, Rückwirkungen zwischen Wind und Seegang zu erfassen, die für Luft-Meer-Flüsse und extreme Seegangslagen wichtig sind.

Angetrieben wird IFS Wave vor allem durch IFS-Winde in 10 m und Meereisfelder. Die Anfangsbedingungen werden durch Wellen-Datenassimilation verbessert, darunter signifikante Wellenhöhe aus Satellitenaltimetern und Beobachtungen weiterer ozeanischer Plattformen.

Typische Felder sind signifikante Wellenhöhe, mittlere Periode, Peak-Periode, mittlere Richtung, Windsee- und Dünungspartitionen sowie Oberflächenvariablen für maritime Operationen, Seegangsrisiko und Forschung.

In GribStream ist ifswave die deterministische ECMWF-Option für globale marine Produkte. Wenn Ihr Produkt Seegangsunsicherheit statt eines einzelnen Szenarios benötigt, ist IFS Wave Ensemble der direkte Ergänzungspunkt.
