Disponibilità al lancio: ERA5 parte in GribStream con copertura dal 1 gennaio 2020. Gli anni precedenti potranno essere aggiunti in seguito, e la finestra visibile nel catalogo/API è il riferimento attuale mentre procede il backfill storico.

Nota ERA5T: GribStream considera attualmente le date precedenti al 1 aprile 2026 come ERA5 finale. Le date più recenti possono essere ancora ERA5T, la versione preliminare quasi in tempo reale, finché ECMWF/Copernicus non le finalizza e sostituisce.

Descrizione

ERA5 è la quinta generazione della reanalisi globale ECMWF, prodotta per il Copernicus Climate Change Service. La fonte ufficiale copre il periodo da gennaio 1940 a oggi con stime orarie dell'atmosfera, della superficie terrestre e di altre variabili climatiche.

Il suo valore scientifico sta nel rianalizzare il passato con un sistema fisso di modello e assimilazione. Le osservazioni vengono combinate con la fisica del modello per produrre campi completi su griglia, più omogenei di una serie costruita con molte generazioni di sistemi operativi.

ERA5 non sostituisce una stazione meteorologica puntuale. È un riferimento spazialmente completo per verifica e analisi, con una cautela in più sulle date recenti: possono comparire prima come ERA5T e poi essere finalizzate.

In GribStream era5 è esposto come valore reale per orario di validità: forecasted_at e forecasted_time indicano lo stesso orario, con horizon = 0 e member = 0. In questo modo l'API resta coerente con i dataset di previsione.

Alcuni campi ERA5 accumulati o di flusso, come precipitazione e radiazione, derivano da brevi passi di previsione nell'archivio sorgente ECMWF. GribStream conserva gli shortName ECMWF ed espone ogni campo per orario di validità, così puoi unirlo alle previsioni senza cambiare la semantica del parametro.

La copia iniziale usa file GRIB2 separati per variabile su una selezione centrale di 17 campi a livello singolo. Questa struttura permette di aggiungere altri parametri ERA5 senza rompere selettori esistenti o ricostruire gli indici già pubblicati.

ERA5 si affianca bene a IFS Oper, IFS ENS e AIFS Oper quando serve confrontare previsioni con un riferimento storico coerente.
