Código GribStream: era5

Disponibilidad inicial: ERA5 se lanza en GribStream con cobertura desde el 1 de enero de 2020. Podremos agregar años anteriores más adelante, y la ventana visible en el catálogo/API es la referencia actual mientras avanza la carga histórica.

Nota ERA5T: GribStream trata actualmente las fechas anteriores al 1 de abril de 2026 como ERA5 final. Las fechas más recientes pueden seguir siendo ERA5T, la versión preliminar casi en tiempo real, hasta que ECMWF/Copernicus las finalice y reemplace.

Descripción

ERA5 es el reanálisis global de quinta generación de ECMWF, producido para el Copernicus Climate Change Service. La fuente oficial cubre desde enero de 1940 hasta el presente y ofrece estimaciones horarias de la atmósfera, la superficie terrestre y otras variables climáticas.

Su valor científico viene de volver a analizar el pasado con un sistema fijo de modelo y asimilación. Las observaciones se combinan con la física del modelo para producir campos completos en grilla, más homogéneos que una serie formada por muchos sistemas operativos distintos.

ERA5 no reemplaza una estación meteorológica puntual. Es una referencia espacialmente completa para verificación y análisis, y las fechas más recientes pueden llegar como ERA5T antes de ser reemplazadas por ERA5 final.

En GribStream, era5 se expone como valores reales por tiempo válido: forecasted_at y forecasted_time representan la misma hora válida, con horizon = 0 y member = 0. Así puedes usar la misma estructura de API que en los datasets de pronóstico.

Algunos campos acumulados o de flujo de ERA5, como precipitación y radiación, provienen de pasos de pronóstico cortos en el archivo fuente de ECMWF. GribStream conserva los shortNames de ECMWF y expone cada campo por su tiempo válido para que puedas unirlo con pronósticos sin cambiar la semántica del parámetro.

La copia inicial usa archivos GRIB2 por variable en una selección central de 17 campos de un solo nivel. Está pensada para crecer sin romper los selectores existentes ni rehacer índices cuando agreguemos nuevas variables.

ERA5 encaja especialmente bien junto a IFS Oper, IFS ENS y AIFS Oper cuando necesitas comparar pronósticos contra una referencia histórica coherente.
